New Members Needed for CSO Committees and Panels
30th May 2017
The Chief Scientist Office is looking to recruit new members to its research funding Committees and Capacity Building interview panels.
Expressions of interest are invited from established researchers based within Scottish Universities or Health Boards (including scientists, medical doctors and allied health professionals) to both the Health Improvement, Protection and Services Research Committee and the Translational Clinical Studies Committee. Each of these committees meets twice per year in Edinburgh. We are currently particularly interested in receiving expressions of interest from those with a research background in medical statistics, respiratory disease, mental health, health economics, health informatics, and primary, secondary or tertiary clinical care.
Expressions of interest are also invited for the Panels of the Clinical Academic Fellowship and Senior Clinical Lectureship Schemes. Each of these panels is involved in both the shortlisting and then interviewing of candidates.
If you are interested in becoming either a Committee or Panel member, please email a covering letter to Julie Simpson which sets out your preference of Committee or Panel (if you have one) and your particular expertise in terms of subject areas, discipline and research methods, and any relevant experience gained from other committees. We will keep your details on file for consideration as places become available. Final decisions on membership are taken by CSO, in consultation with the Committee Chair and Vice-Chair.
If you would like to discuss these roles in advance of submitting an expression of interest please contact either:
Dr Alan McNair – if relating to the Translational Clinical Studies Committee 0131 244 8494
Dr Tom Barlow – if relating to the Health Improvement, Protection and Services Research Committee 0131 2448350
Dr Julie Simpson – if relating to the interview panels for the Clinical Academic Fellowship and Senior Clinical Lectureship Schemes 0131 2442358
Submissions of expressions of interest should be submitted by 31 July 2017.
